What Kind of Traveller Am I?

When I was going through thousands of vacation photos and remembering my adventures, I finally decided to start this blog – which is something that I’ve been dreaming of for quite a while now. I thought that sharing what kind of traveller am, I might be a good introduction. 🙂

I have travelled mostly in Europe (in the future, I hope to explore other continents as well). I love cities! I like to observe people and their daily lives, sit in a café reading or writing, wander around the streets… Wandering around in a new place with my camera is the best thing I know. 🙂

On the other hand, I do love nature. I like walking, jogging, hiking and swimming, so I prioritise destinations with excellent opportunities for these. Someday I’d love to learn to surf and scuba dive!

Other things I like to explore

I am an art and culture loverSeeing your favourite paintings in person is the kind of life I want to have. I feel so lucky to have seen Monet’s Water Lilies and Edward Munch’s Scream, for instance. (This cool virtual visit to Water Lilies is quite lovely though!) I’m a fan of opera and ballet and like to explore all kinds of cultural events in my destinations – you can read for example about my ballet night in Oslo here. Museums and art galleries are always on my itineraries. I can easily spend a whole day in a big one… (yeah, that’s one of the reasons why travelling solo is a great choice for me :D).

What is most important for me is to make authentic discoveries – whether they are cultural, cuisine or just meaningful meetings with other people. Although I usually want to experience some touristic attractions, I always try to do some things that take me closer to the daily lives of the locals.

Heading for adventure

Solo Travel

I took my first solo trip when I was around 22-23. It was to Stockholm, Sweden. I had lived there earlier for about one year, so it was not a strange place for me, and it didn’t feel like a real solo trip. However, I noticed that I enjoyed travelling alone! After that, I have taken several memorable solo trips (and this trip to Paris was very important) but this summer I stayed on the road for the longest time, over a month. I had a blast! Now I am even more convinced that I want to have many, many solo adventures in the future!

I hope you enjoy joining the adventures with me. 🙂 I’d love to hear what kind of traveller you are!
